Plan your visit
So that your experience on the Camino de los Pilones is complete and without surprises, we invite you to plan your trip well and follow our recommendations.

Book your accommodation in advance
The villages through which the Camino de los Pilones passes are small and have few services, so it is recommended to book accommodation in advance. You can do so on the websites of the regions of Comunidad de Teruel and Maestrazgo.
Once you have booked your accommodation, they will be your best allies when it comes to informing you about the services you may need in the municipality.

Where to eat in Camino de los Pilones
For meals, you can ask at your accommodation or look on our websites:

Parking and transportation tips
If you travel by car, we recommend you to leave it in a free or paid parking lot and walk to the beginning of the trail. The easiest option if you do not want to come by car, is to travel from your place of residence to Teruel by public transport (bus or train).

Precautions when traveling with pets on the Camino
If you have a pet, especially a dog, it is advisable not to let it run loose, as it may disturb other people and wildlife in the area. Keep this in mind to avoid unpleasant incidents. Make sure that they are welcome in the accommodations.

Lack of mobile coverage in mountainous areas and security measures.
Being a mountainous area it is possible that sometimes you may not have cell phone coverage, something that can also happen in the villages you pass through. If you are traveling alone, let someone you trust or your accommodation know of your intentions so that they can be alert and come and pick you up in case of need. You can hand in this declaration of intentions form at your accommodation.

Carrying cash due to lack of card payments
Bring cash for lunches, dinners and shopping, as not all establishments accept credit cards. Also ask your accommodation about the payment methods they accept.

Route planning and transportation options at the end of the Camino
It is advisable to start the route in Teruel and finish it in La Iglesuela del Cid, for which you need 5 or 6 days. Once in La Iglesuela, you have a bus that runs from Monday to Friday and leaves towards Teruel at 6:00 am. This same bus runs through all the villages along the Pilones Way (except El Pobo), in case you want to return to Teruel earlier.
