Recommendations

Take into account meteorological factors

The trail can be done all year round, but be aware of weather factors. Avoid days of intense heat or cold or rain, snow or fog, as there are areas of very exposed moorland. Be well informed of the weather forecast.

Consult time

Start of the tour

You can start from any municipality, since the stages go from municipality to municipality. If you want to do all the stages we recommend that you start in Teruel (Camino del Arquillo) or in Puerto de Cabrillas (near La Iglesuela del Cid) or in the municipality of La Iglesuela del Cid itself.

Make sure you have the right equipment

1. Wear footwear suitable for the terrain. We recommend trekking or trail running shoes, as they are ideal for mountainous terrain.
2. A backpack suitable for this type of routes, with regulation system, padded shoulder straps and lumbar reinforcement, are some of the characteristics that it should have.
3. A pair of trekking poles will help you on the stages.
4. Regarding clothes, evaluate the quantity depending on the stages you are going to do or if you can wash them in the lodging.
5. In the colder months, we recommend warm clothing, such as gloves, a cap or a hat, as temperatures are very low and the wind is usually very present. On the other hand, in the summer months, we recommend light, breathable clothing and a cap or hat to cover your head, as well as sunglasses and sunscreen.
6. Other things that are useful: cell phone charger, raincoat or folding umbrella, a headlamp, a notebook for your notes.
7. Finally, do not forget your ID card, health card, credit card and cash, as not all establishments in the area accept cards.

Carry sufficient water supplies for the route.

Carry enough water supplies for the route and drink regularly. Remember that not all springs in the area carry water. Also bring a snack to replenish your strength.

Carry a bag to store garbage

Bring a bag to store your garbage, as there are no trash garbage cans or containers along the route, except in the municipalities.

make use
of GPS

Although the route is marked with the white and red GR 265 markers, it is recommended to use a GPS to complete the crossing without incident.

Responsibility
and civility

We ask for responsibility and civility. It is everyone’s responsibility to respect the environment and the other people who walk the trail. You will be walking through a natural area and we must all collaborate for its conservation, so it is recommended not to make fire, do not shout, do not throw containers, papers, cigarette butts and garbage in general. Respect the flora and fauna of the environment, as well as the signage, interpretive panels and any element of the environment. It is everyone’s responsibility to preserve it for the enjoyment of future generations.
