Road and snow signage
The pylons that give their name to this road are the first signposts to avoid getting lost on the roads during the snowy season. But the signaling for snow and also for roads and highways has evolved throughout history. In this installation we have gathered different elements that have been used to mark the primitive paths and roads, as well as installing samples of the different elements that have been used to orientate during snowfalls.
This curious installation is on the Camino de los Pilones between Fortanete and La Iglesuela del Cid. You will find it when you walk along the road. But if you want to visit it by car, these are the indications from Fortanete:
You take the track that leaves the village towards the hermitage of Loreto and continue to the right. Do not leave the main track that ascends gradually and then continues through pine forests in a flatter area. You will find the installation on the right, in a wide fork of tracks, in the area known as “la Cruz Gorda”, where there is the base of an old Peirón (Km.).
To arrive from Cantavieja:
Take the road towards Mosqueruela and, after __ kms, turn right onto a track marked Fortanete. Follow this main track until you reach the area of “la Cruz Gorda”, after __ Kms. There you will find the signaling installation.
